What Planets Go Retrograde in 2022: Everything You Need To Know About Each Planets RX Cycle

Mercury Retrograde

Currently, there will be no Retrogrades for a bit; rejoice.

We have about 7 1/2 weeks free of inverse cycles, which will give us a nice break.

Since we have a bit of time on our hands, let’s get prepared for the year and take notes about which planets will go Retrograde in 2022.

Retrogrades Of 2022

Retrogrades in Astrology have a unique way of manifesting themselves in our individual Horoscopes, so we tend to have different experiences. The events may vary from person to person; thus, one individual might experience 2 themes while someone else could feel four. It all depends on how your Birth Chart is situated.

So even though a Retrograde is occurring, it doesn’t mean all will affect you the same way as it does another person.

The end of April kicks off the Retrograde Season with Pluto.

Here are all of the planets that will have an Inverse Cycle this year:

Pluto Retrograde

Pluto Retrogrades deal with transformation, letting go of bad habits, and resolving repressed trauma. Since this is a slow-moving celestial body, we only feel it when it is Aspecting other planets in our Natal Chart through Transit.

Sign Placements that will feel this Retrograde the Most are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn between 24 to 29 degrees of these signs.

Pluto will go Retrograde at 28 degrees of Capricorn.

Dates:

  • Pre-Shadow 1/6/22

  • Retrograde Station 4/29/22

  • Out Of Retrograde 10/8/22

  • Leaves Post Shadow 1/29/2023

Mercury Retrograde

This year we have a compelling mix of Mercury Retrogrades.

We already completed the first one of 2022, but we still have 3 more to go. Mercury Retrograde will begin its Pre-Shadow near the end of the Earth Signs and then progress to the beginning of the Air Signs. Therefore, we will have three mixed Retrogrades and one entirely in Capricorn.

Saturn Retrograde

Saturn Retrogrades are about responsibility, becoming realistic, and gaining structure in your life. If Saturn is aspecting any planets in your Natal Chart, you could feel this Retrograde on a more personal level.

The Sign Placements that will feel this Retrograde the most are Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Taurus, between 4 to 17 degrees of these Zodiac Signs.

Dates:

  • Pre-Shadow Retrograde 2/26/22

  • Goes Retrograde 6/4/22

  • Station Direct 10/22/22

  • Leaves Post Shadow 1/26/23

Neptune Retrograde

Neptune RX causes us to look at the vague things, our boundaries, where we have been overly sacrificial, and if we should put our faith in something or someone. Collectively we can experience this outer planet cycle, but when Neptune is in Retrograde over a Natal planet, you will feel these themes more than others.

Individuals affected the most are Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius, who are at the last 10 degrees of these Zodiac Signs.

Dates:

  • Pre-Shadow 3/7/22

  • Retrograde Station 6/27/22

  • Out Of Retrograde 12/3/22

  • Leaves Post Shadow 3/24/2023

Chiron Retrograde

Chiron's a Dwarf planet that Retrogrades half the year, and its effects can be felt on a collective level. This planet shows how we heal core wounds that we’ve carried since childhood.

Our experience with this Retrograde depends on if this Celestial body is aspecting your Natal Chart. If you have placements in Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn between 8 to 20 degrees, you will feel this more than others.

Dates:

  • Pre-Shadow Retrograde 3/25/22

  • Goes Retrograde 7/19/22

  • Out Of Retrograde 12/23/22

  • Leaves Post Shadow 4/15/23

Jupiter Retrograde

With this Inverse Cycle, we look at walking a new path, higher education, universal truths, and entitlement issues that need to be resolved. When Jupiter is in Retrograde over a Natal planet, you will feel these themes the most in your individual chart.

The Cardinal Signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn will feel this the most between 1 to 9 degrees. Additionally, the Mutable Signs Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius at the last 2 degrees of these Zodiac Signs as well.

Dates:

Pre-Shadow Retrograde 5/4/22

Goes Retrograde 7/28/22

Out of Retrograde 11/23/22

Leaves Post Shadow 2/14/22

Uranus Retrograde

Uranus Retrogrades are very noticeable collectively, but you can still feel this personally. This planet deals with how we liberate ourselves, make sudden changes, and get out of ruts.

The Signs who will experience this the most will be Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, between 18 to 20 degrees.

Dates:

  • Pre-Shadow Rx 5/7/22

  • Retrograde Station 8/24/22

  • Goes Direct 1/22/23

  • Out of Shadow 5/9/23

Mars Retrograde

Mars will go into Gemini on August 19th and stay there for 6 months due to its Retrograde Cycle.

Out of all of the personal planets, Mars Retrograde is one of the rarest, occurring about 7% of the time, so when this Inverse Cycle hits, it can feel full throttle. This celestial body only goes into its Regressive cycle every 2 years, so its Retrogrades aren’t as frequent as a Mercury RX, or the outer planets, i.e., Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Retrogrades from this Planet cause us to work on self-assertion, how we take action, our temperament, intimacy, and our ability to be bold.

The Mutable Signs Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius, between 6 and 28 degrees of these Zodiac Signs, will feel this Retrograde more than others.

Dates:

  • Pre Shadow-Retrograde 9/3/22

  • Goes Retrograde 10/30/22

  • Goes Out Of Retrograde 1/12/22

  • Leaves Post Shadow 3/15/22

Venus Retrograde

Venus is another rare Retrograde that happens every 18 months. Luckily, this Inverse Cycle already transpired this year, so we are all done for 2022; phew.

Venus Retrograde Dates That Occurred This Year:

  • Ingresses into Capricorn 11/5/22

  • Shadow period 11/17/21

  • Goes Retrograde 12/19/21

  • Venus Station Direct 1/29/22

  • Venus out the of Shadow Period 3/1/22

  • Out of Capricorn on 3/5/22

As a bonus date to mark in your calendar, Venus will Retrograde again on July 22, 2023, and this time it will be in Leo.

Save these dates for your personal use to help you understand why some things throughout the year seem as though they need adjustment. I would recommend looking at your Birth Chart and the degrees of these Retrogrades to see if you might be getting aspected by one of them. That way, you can create a strategy to alleviate any stressful feelings experienced by a Retrograde.
